Mrs. Cooley

I earned my Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma and have completed graduate coursework at Cal State Long Beach. I’ve been teaching music since 2012, working with students from kindergarten through high school in just about every format you can imagine: band, orchestra, marching band, jazz band, percussion, rock band, choir, ukulele, piano, music theory, and music tech.

I believe music education is about more than just playing the right notes, it’s about building independent, confident musicians who carry their skills with them long after they leave the classroom. My goal is to give students the tools and knowledge they need so that one day, they won’t need me to make music. I love the “aha!” moments, and I feel lucky to watch students grow, not just as musicians, but as people.

I live in Long Beach with my husband Jeremy (a high school theater teacher) and our two cats. When I'm not teaching you can find me reading, playing video games, spending the day at Disneyland, or cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners.
